Abstract Self Portrait

2/7/2018

I was struggling to find a way to abstract myself.  After many different ideas, I decided to blow my head up.  It seems to have worked alright.

I started first by drawing a face, and slowly obscuring it with the removal of skin.  As you can see, there still is a bit of a facial base in the blood.  Also, as the throat is pulling apart, the trachea within is exposed.

With the help of a friend, the colors for the background were carefully chosen.  For whatever reason, we as humans are naturally disturbed by such a bright tone of yellow, (which is often associated with phlegm).

This piece took about 4 hours total to finish.
